Proverbs Sermon Series

We meditated on the book of Proverbs throughout the month of January, reading one chapter each day.  The Sunday sermon series, Wisdom from the Deepest Well brought a message from the chapter for that day.

Part 1. January 3

Pastor Nate kicked off a new sermon series for January, Proverbs: Wisdom from the Deepest Well with the message, “Fearing the LORD, Gaining Wisdom” from chapter 3.  Key takeaways included:

  • We are sustained by the consuming of His word each day.
  • We seek God’s counsel because He commands all.
  • We live our lives as if God is God, and I am not.

Part 2. January 10

Pastor Kevin continued the sermon series for January from Proverbs: Wisdom from the Deepest Well.  Key takeaways included:

  • Your words are powerful because they reveal your heart.
  • Your tongue has the power to build up or destroy.
  • We have a responsibility as believers, followers of Jesus, to be different in our speech.

Part 3. January 17

Pastor Nate continued the sermon series for January, Proverbs: Wisdom from the Deepest Well with the message, “Wisdom: No Pain, No Gain” from chapter 17.  Key takeaways included:

  • We ask God to show us what the hardships are teaching us.
  • We receive appropriate correction and take action.
  • We trust that the Holy Spirit is continually making us a new creation.

Part 4. January 24

Pastor Nate continued the sermon series for January, Proverbs: Wisdom from the Deepest Well with the message “Response to Evil” from chapter 24.  Key takeaways included:

  • We are cautious of the people and ideas that have influence on us.
  • We look for ways to make an enemy a brother or a sister in Christ.
  • We trust God’s sovereignty and pray for our rulers to be transformed.

Part 5. January 31

Pastor Nate finished the sermon series for January, Proverbs: Wisdom from the Deepest Well with the message “The Wise Woman” from chapter 31.  A key takeaway was “We the church strive to display the character of this wise woman.”
